Sharing

There was a time when he lend me a pair of DVDs featuring local production - "Be With Me" and "Singapore Gaga". It was an interesting watch, and thought provoking. I shared with him via email after that on my thoughts after watching the movies. I was surprised to receive his long reply. I always thought guys dun care that much and never write long emails. I'm impressed by his attentiveness and efforts taken to read through whatever I wrote and responds accordingly. I love reading his emails. Sometimes we talk about life, sometimes we talk about the music and singer that we like. We happened to like Corrine May, and Mayday. On one day, he shared with me his preparations for the upcoming Standard Chartered half marathon. I simply like reading how he take care of the small things, and how he prepare himself for the marathon. It's impressive to run a marathon in the first place, and I admire his determinations. Somedays I shared with him my fears, and my thoughts on life, as well as my childhood conditioning that makes me what i am now. It just felt so natural to share about the more personal side of myself with him. I just feel at ease that i just be myself in front of him, no pretence, no mask and no need to impress. I think it's because he is always so encouraging, supportive, and eveready to listen, and his attentiveness that makes me so at ease.
There was a time when he sends me a link to a few book recommendations that are available at Kinokuniya. I was pleasantly surprised again that the books that he recommended are the books that I might be most interested in, such as Da Vinci notebook, A compilation of of Sherlock Holmes novel, as well as a book for women to live their life to the fullest. I thought we must shared a lot of common interest, or he must have remembered some of the conversations that we had and figured out that these were the books that I might like.
On another occasion, he sent me a link to a blog that discussed the case of a young man, only in his teens when he was caught trafficking heroin into Singapore. He was given death sentence, and was supposed to be hanged. But he managed to appeal, and thus his sentence was delayed. We had a few ideas and thoughts exchange on this topic, and there was some differences in our views. I think sometimes difference in views helps us to learn from each other and to see things from a different perspective. He didnt's particularly too adamant to withold his views, and I like the ways he begs to differ. In a way, it was done with discretion and respect. He must be a very careful and sensitive person.
One day, I scroll down further on the book link that he sent me and found that there's an upcoming exhibition on Ancient Egypt mysteries and facts. Being a mystery lover and ever curious about Egypt and mummies, I remarked that this is an exhibition that I want to go. I was surprised by him yet again when he asked me for his kinokuniya card number (his card was still with me that time), because he wanted to take part in the lucky draw that presents 2 free ticket to the exhibition for the winner. I was surprised that he will do this, but he just said " you never know". In the end, he got lucky, and won the free tickets. In one of the sms that he wrote when he informs me about the result of the draw - never write ourself off too early without trying, or something along the line. That's him. Always add in inspiring quotes every now and then.
